The CROWN (Create a Respectful and Open Workplace for Natural Hair) Act (SB 188) passes in California

The CROWN Act makes California the first state to ban discrimination against natural hair. Since the Crown Act was passed, ten additional states have now passed similar laws banning discrimination against natural hair. More>>

The Emmett Till Anti Lynching Act passes the House

The bill adds language to the Civil Rights Act of 1968, making lynching a violation. It is named in memory of a 14-year-old black teenager who was murdered in Mississippi in 1955 and whose death was a catalyst for the civil rights movement. More>>
