Assistive Technology Act of 1998 supported grants to states for the provision of assistive technologies for individuals with disabilities. The goal of this law was to allow people with disabilities to participate fully in education, employment, and all other daily activities.

The Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act amended the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and made changes to the definition of the term “disability.” This clarified and broadened the definition and growing the number and types of persons who are protected under the ADA and other Federal disability nondiscrimination laws. House Bill 2 declares that state law overrides all local ordinances concerning wages, employment and public accommodations. The law also directs all public schools, government agencies and public college campuses to require that multiple-occupancy bathrooms and changing facilities, such as locker rooms, be designated for use only by people based on their “biological sex” stated on their birth certificate directly targeting transgender people.
